Two large-scale battery energy storage projects, totaling 5,200 MWh, have been proposed under Australia’s EPBC Act. BID Energy’s Kiar BESS, a 1,000 MW/4,000 MWh standalone project in New South Wales’ Central Coast, aims for commissioning by late 2027 or early 2028, with a 25-year operation.
