General Motors (GM) will continue sourcing LFP batteries from China’s CATL for about two years until domestic production begins with LG Energy Solution. Ultium Cells’ Spring Hill plant will convert to LFP cell production in 2024, with commercial output expected by late 2027. GM’s new Chevrolet Bolt, using CATL batteries, begins production in Kansas this year and launches in 2026.
