The European Investment Bank (EIB) will support Bulgaria’s national electricity company, NEK EAD, in preparing two pumped-storage hydropower plants, Batak and Dospat, each with 800 MW generation capacity. EIB will assess technical feasibility, economic viability, and risks. The projects, with an estimated cost of €900 million each, aim to enhance Bulgaria's energy security and align with the EU’s sustainability goals.
