Japan is accelerating floating offshore wind development to harness its vast deep-sea wind resources. Following the commercial launch of the Goto Floating Wind Farm in early 2026, Tokyo plans a 1 GW floating wind project near the Izu Islands to supply electricity to both island communities and the capital.
