President Joe Biden signed a bipartisan bill allowing Arizona's Salt River Project (SRP) to advance a pumped hydro energy storage project. The bill facilitates the withdrawal of 17,000 acres of federal land for SRP’s expansion, which will improve energy storage capacity. SRP’s project, expected to be operational by 2030-2033, aims for 2,000MW of storage.
