At India Energy Storage Week, CEA Chairperson Ghanshyam Prasad revealed that 3,300 MW of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects are in the pipeline, expected to deliver 8,500 MWh within two years. Additionally, 12,500 MW (42,000 MWh) of BESS projects are under bidding. Acknowledging India’s current low BESS capacity of 205 MW, he highlighted ambitious expansion plans, including a hydro pumped storage target of 3,000 MW this year and a long-term goal of 50 GW in five to six years.
