First Solar has signed a supply agreement with quantum dot developer UbiQD to enhance thin-film solar module efficiency. Quantum dots, nanomaterials that manipulate light, improve spectral response and light absorption, especially in bifacial panels. UbiQD recently acquired BlueDot Photonics to further boost module performance by up to 16%.
