Thermal Unit Failures Cause 870 MW Loss in Punjab
Despite moderate rain in parts of Punjab, power demand is surging due to the paddy transplantation season. Two thermal units at Talwandi Sabo and Ropar tripped, causing an 870 MW loss in generation. With a demand peaking at 15,300 MW, PSPCL faces potential power cuts as it draws 9,850 MW from the northern grid and generates 5,400 MW internally, down by 1,000 MW.
