Italy's 20-Year Plan: €35.3B for Renewable Energy Boost
The European Commission has approved Italy's state aid scheme, totaling €35.3b over 20 years, aimed at boosting RE. Financed by a consumer levy, it targets a reduction in carbon emissions, supporting innovative technologies like geothermal, offshore wind, biogas, and biomass. The scheme will add nearly 4.9 GW of renewable capacity, using a contract-for-difference model for electricity production.
