India Considers Adding Solar Cells to ALMM Insight

MNRE is considering adding Solar Cells to the Approved List of Modules and Manufacturers (ALMM) to reduce dependence on Chinese imports & boost Domestic Production. Union Minister Mr. Joshi noted that this initiative aims to enhance local manufacturing capabilities and achieve India's 2030 goal of 500 GW in non-fossil fuel power, with significant progress already made in Renewable Energy capacity.

The MNRE is considering adding solar cells to the Approved List of Modules and Manufacturers (ALMM) to cut down on Chinese imports and enhance local production capabilities as well as to make India self-reliant in solar manufacturing. This step towards promoting manufacturing solar cells in the country will bring the cost of solar more down and lead to more innovation. If solar cells are all made in India then we don’t have to depend on other countries as well as we can step forward to export. India which supports solar plants will strengthen projects and might be able to meet its renewable energy target of 500 GW. This will bring business opportunities to Indian solar cell manufacturers as well as it will develop jobs for the local people all in all India will move towards green energy cost-effectively.
