Toyota Motor Corp has signed an agreement to establish a wholly-owned electric vehicle (EV) and EV battery plant in Shanghai, investing 14.6 billion yuan ($2 billion). The project, focused on Lexus EVs and batteries, will be located in the Jinshan district. This move strengthens Toyota’s presence in China’s largest automotive market and follows Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory.
