PPC Group and METLEN Energy & Metals have formed a 50:50 joint venture to develop up to 1,500 MW / 3,000 MWh of battery energy storage projects across Romania, Bulgaria, and Italy. About 1,000 MW is expected within the next 12 months, using two-hour liquid-cooled LFP systems. The projects will support nearby wind and solar farms, enhance grid stability, and optimise renewable energy management, reinforcing both companies’ commitment to Europe’s energy transition.
