Origin Energy has energized the first stage of the Eraring Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in New South Wales. The 460MW, 920MWh system, built by Wärtsilä, is connected to the grid and marks the start of commissioning. Once complete, Eraring BESS will reach a 2.8GWh capacity, aiding the transition from coal to Renewable Energy, with operations expected to begin in late 2025.
