MNRE has established guidelines for Solar Cold Storage systems with Thermal Energy Storage (TES) backup, primarily using Solar Photovoltaic (PV) energy. These systems, designed for agriculture, fisheries, dairy, and pharmaceuticals, must support daily precooling for two consecutive days. With over 1,400 installations, the guidelines set performance, design, and testing standards, including temperature settings, PV system requirements, and battery specifications, ensuring efficient and sustainable cold storage operations.
