Massachusetts’s electric distribution companies (EDCs) and the Department of Energy Resources (DOER) launched an RFP for 1,500 MW of mid-duration battery energy storage systems (BESS) as part of a 5,000 MW target by 2030. The staggered procurement includes an additional 1,000 MW tranches in 2026 and 2027.
