South Korean battery maker LG Energy Solution (LGES) has signed a $4.3 billion contract to supply lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries to Tesla for energy storage systems. The batteries will be produced at LGES’s US factory. Although LGES announced the contract without naming the customer or specifying battery use, sources confirmed Tesla as the recipient.
