Ireland plans to host Europe’s first large-scale iron-air project in Donegal, proposed by FuturEnergy Ireland. The 10 MW facility aims to store 1 GWh of energy using iron-air Battery Technology from Form Energy. Coillte and ESB have submitted a planning application for their Ballynahone Energy Storage project, which can discharge energy for up to 100 hours when fully charged.
