India will require 8.68 GW/34 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and 7.45 GW/47 GWh of Pumped Storage Plants (PSP) by 2026-27, rising to 47.24 GW/236 GWh BESS and 26.69 GW/175 GWh PSP by 2031-32. The Ministry of Power estimates combined investments exceeding ₹4.78 lakh crore by 2031-32.
