Researchers at Tokyo University of Science found that sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) with hard carbon anodes can charge faster than lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Using a diluted electrode method, they eliminated ion transport limitations, revealing that sodium insertion is intrinsically quicker than lithium.
