Countries argue over goals to reduce shipping's massive emissions

High-level discussions on how to clean up a sector that handles more than 80% of global trade and emits more carbon dioxide annually than Germany began in a dark, squat building overlooking the Thames River in London. The climate impact of shipping is not discussed as much as that of cars. Yet it continues to be a significant polluter, accounting for roughly 3% of all CO2 emitted by humans.
