Surge in French Imports of Russian LNG Amid Calls for Ban

French imports of Russian liquified natural gas (LNG) more than doubled in the first half of 2024, despite Europe's efforts to reduce dependency on Russian energy. This increase is attributed to existing contracts and logistical challenges, leading to calls for a complete EU embargo on Russian gas.
