India’s domestic capacity to make solar cells will be over 47 GW by June 2026
Government’s move to extend the Approved Lists of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) to solar cells from 1 June, 2026 will boost the domestic solar cell manufacturing sector. The domestic capacity to make solar cells will be over 47 GW as compared to 10 GW in March 2024. Successful commissioning of the announced projects is critical to meet the expected annual demand of 40-45 GW between 2027-2030.
