India Set to Build First Desalination-Based Hydrogen Plant

India's IIPE and NTPC are building the nation's first desalination-based hydrogen plant in Visakhapatnam, costing ₹35 crore. Located at NTPC Simhadri, the plant will produce 1 TPD of hydrogen. NTPC, committed to green hydrogen, backs the project. Approved in 2023, NTPC's ₹1.1 lakh crore energy park at Pudimadaka will produce green hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol in phases.
