Iberdrola to Build Western Europe's Largest Hydroelectric Power Plant
Spain's main electric utility company, Iberdrola plans to construct Western Europe's largest hydroelectric power plant, the Conso II in Ourense's Sil basin in Galicia. This €1.5 billion project, known as the "Giga battery," will use surplus solar energy to pump water between reservoirs, generating 4,000 GWh of renewable energy annually and provide a significant reserve of storable energy.
