West Bengal has entered the battery storage sector, with CESC inviting bids to set up a 40MW/80MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at New Cossipore. The BOOT-model project includes a 12-year power purchase agreement. Bidders must meet technical, financial, and performance criteria, including 95% availability and 90% efficiency.
