German steelmaker Thyssenkrupp has entered into a strategic agreement with Hydnum Steel, a Spanish company, to purchase 100,000 tonnes of green hydrogen-derived flat steel annually for seven years. Hydnum Steel's innovative plant in Puertollano, Spain, aims to produce decarbonized steel using green hydrogen and electric arc furnaces.
