THDC India Ltd., a subsidiary of NTPC Ltd., has commissioned Unit-3 (250 MW) of its 1 GW variable-speed pumped storage hydropower project in Uttarakhand. The project, consisting of four 250 MW units, provides peaking power to enhance grid reliability in northern India. Utilizing Tehri and Koteshwar dams as upstream and downstream reservoirs, the plant is executed by Alstom in consortium with HCC, with Alstom supplying turbines, generators, valves, and control-protection systems.
