The SHANTI Act, 2025 provides a framework for private sector participation in India’s nuclear energy sector, with rules currently under drafting. The Act sets operator liability limits ranging from ₹100 crore to ₹3,000 crore depending on reactor capacity. Reactors above 3,600 MW thermal capacity have a liability cap of ₹3,000 crore, while reactors up to 150 MW have a ₹100 crore limit.
