RWE AG has installed the first turbine at its 1.4 GW Sofia Offshore Wind Project, located 195 km off the UK’s northeast coast. The project, set to become one of the world’s largest, will feature 100 Siemens Gamesa turbines, each with 14 MW capacity. Expected to be fully operational by 2026, it aims to support the UK’s Clean Power 2030 targets.
