A proposed rule by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy mandating higher local manufacturing for Wind Turbines has sparked industry concern. Leaders are urging the ministry to allow more time for compliance, warning the rule could jeopardize ₹50,000 crore in planned investments. According to the April 17 draft amendment, only turbines with locally made blades, towers, gearboxes, and generators will be approved for sale in India, tightening the norms under the Revised List of Models and Manufacturers (RLMM).
