The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has launched operational guidelines for a ₹2,585 crore Small Hydropower Programme to support projects up to 25 MW over the next five years. The scheme targets the addition of 1,500 MW of capacity, particularly in hilly and northeastern regions, and includes a dedicated digital portal for transparent implementation.
