Mercedes-Benz India has declined to participate in the government’s electric vehicle policy offering lower customs duties for completely built units (CBUs), as it already manufactures EVs locally in Pune. MD Santosh Iyer said investing more just for duty exemptions doesn’t make sense. The company has invested Rs 2,800 crore and plans to increase it.
