Lightsource bp has begun constructing a 49 MW/562 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) integrated with its 585 MWdc Goulburn River solar farm in New South Wales, Australia. This DC-coupled hybrid shares infrastructure to reduce energy loss and store surplus solar power for evening use. Backed by government schemes, the project aims for completion by late 2026.
