India’s EV Schemes Drive Adoption Growth Despite FAME-II Implementation Gaps

The Government’s EV promotion initiatives have accelerated electric mobility adoption in India, despite implementation and utilisation gaps under FAME-II. The ₹11,500 crore FAME-II scheme supported 16.72 lakh EVs, deployed 5,197 e-buses, and allocated ₹912.50 crore for charging stations. Additional measures include PLI-Auto, ₹18,100 crore ACC Battery PLI, PM E-DRIVE, PM e-Bus Sewa, and SPMEPCI to boost manufacturing and infrastructure.
