Indian refineries plan to invest ₹2 trillion ($23bn) in green hydrogen projects, aiming to produce 42,000 tonnes annually. Four pilot plants exist, with nine more underway, including IOC’s 10,000-tonne plant by 2027. Hydrogen demand in refining exceeds two million tonnes yearly. Green ammonia projects are also rising, like Odisha’s $470m plant and UAE-backed initiatives.
