Hindustan Motors has again approached the West Bengal government seeking land at Uttarpara to establish an EV manufacturing unit through a joint venture. The company currently has proposals from a European automaker and a US car manufacturer. HM previously planned an EV facility at Uttarpara under a 2022 agreement, but the proposal was cancelled after the state resumed around 395 acres in November 2022.
