India’s government has deprioritized offshore wind projects off Karnataka due to low wind speeds (5-5.2 m/s), deemed economically unviable. No further studies will occur there. Instead, focus shifts to Gujarat and Tamil Nadu, where eight priority offshore wind zones with stronger wind resources have been identified.
