Google is commissioning CO₂ battery systems to provide long-duration, renewable backup power for its data centers across the U.S., Europe, and parts of Asia. Developed with Italy-based Energy Dome, the technology stores excess renewable energy by compressing and expanding carbon dioxide to generate electricity when needed.
