France Invests €100M in Gen-Hy to Boost Domestic AEM Electrolyser Production

France has allocated €100 million to Gen-Hy, a hydrogen startup in Allenjoie, Doubs, under the European Commission’s IPCEI Hydrogen program, to establish the country’s first AEM electrolyser manufacturing facility, producing 350 units annually with a capacity of 700MW per year. Gen-Hy’s high-efficiency electrolysers eliminate the need for platinum-group metals, reducing reliance on rare materials, and will be manufactured entirely in-house.
