India added a record 6.05 GW of wind energy capacity in FY26, marking a 46% year-on-year increase and surpassing the previous peak of over 5.5 GW in FY17. The country’s cumulative installed wind capacity has now crossed 56 GW. The growth was driven by supportive policies, improved transmission infrastructure, competitive tariffs, and a strong project pipeline.
