First Phosphate and LG Energy Solution have begun producing lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells in North America, aligning with U.S. efforts to boost domestic manufacturing. Under new Foreign Entity of Concern (FEOC) rules, starting in 2026, 55% of project costs must come from non-prohibited foreign sources to qualify for tax credits, increasing to 75% by 2030.
