Australia’s BID Energy Partners has proposed a 1,000-MW/4,000-MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) near a coal mine in New South Wales’ Central Coast, around 100 km north of Sydney. Named the Kiar project, it will connect to the National Electricity Market via a 330-kV Transgrid line. The 110-hectare site is under environmental review, with public comments open until July 25.
