Engie has acquired two 200 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Latiano, Puglia, from Recurrent Energy, the development arm of Canadian Solar. Construction is expected in 2028. This expands Engie’s Italian portfolio as it targets 1.6GW by 2030. The projects, having secured planning consent, can participate in Italy’s upcoming MACSE auction, offering 15-year contracts for energy storage capacity.
