General Motors is developing mixed-chemistry battery packs for electric vehicles. The company is discussing in combining nickel manganese cobalt (NCM) with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) or other similar chemistries. It is anticipated that the mixed-chemistry pack, will reduce cost by combining cheaper LFP battery cells and hence, will balance performance and cost.
