The Power Ministry proposed a two-stage bidding process—technical and financial—for acquiring Pumped Storage Project (PSP) capacity. Draft tariff-based competitive bidding guidelines were released for stakeholder feedback by early September 2024. The Ministry aims to address Renewable Energy variability through Energy Storage Systems (ESS), projecting a need for 74 GW of ESS by FY32.
