Suppliers to China’s EV battery makers are seeking higher prices for cobalt-based materials amid a cobalt price rebound and tightening raw material supply. Producers of nickel-manganese-cobalt (NCM) precursors, used in about 20% of Chinese EVs, are pushing long-term contract discounts from 10% to around 5% of spot cobalt sulfate.
