MERC Increases Annual License Fees for Distribution Companies

MERC has increased annual license fees for Distribution Companies (Discoms) from 0.05% to 0.1% of their revenues. This decision, made after stakeholder discussions, aims to address rising case volumes & future challenges in the sector. Despite objections from several Discoms, MERC justified the increase, stating it aligns with future regulatory needs. The new fees will take effect from April 2025.
