Karnataka Plans 6,000 MWh Energy Storage Systems
The Karnataka government plans to install 6,000 MWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) at KPTCL’s generation and transmission centers over two years. The project aims to manage peak energy demand, store surplus Renewable Energy, and reduce reliance on hydel resources. KPTCL is studying feasible locations, with support from KREDL and a recent state energy report.
