India to Reduce Li-ion Battery Imports by 2027

India is working to reduce its reliance on imported Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, with imports expected to drop to 20% by FY27. Battery demand will rise sharply, driven by EV adoption and Renewable Energy Goals. The government’s policies, including the FAME scheme and ACC PLI, aim to boost local production, with 50 GWh capacity expected by FY27.
