As India aims to reduce carbon emissions due to electric vehicles, it is essential to electrify heavy-duty buses and trucks as they account for about 50% of the transport-related emissions. There is greater penetration of EVs in two and three-wheeler vehicles but there is challenge in electrifying heavy commercial vehicles due to their demanding energy requirements and operational complexities. Battery swapping method will help in improving the affordability of heavy electric vehicles (HEVs) by significantly reducing the upfront cost resulting in increased adoption. This method will not only minimize downtime but also reduces the strain on the power grid as it eliminates the need for large-scale charging infrastructure. It will be easy to predict charging patterns as charging in swap stations is conducted consistently.
